Candidate Questionnaire Responses

1)  What makes PEC’s mission meaningful to you, and what interest you about serving on the PEC Board of Directors?

Delivering low-cost, safe and reliable energy to all members falls in-line with my belief that our energy grid should be hybridized allowing us to take advantage of the renewable resources at our disposal, while making sure that we safeguard our future by weatherizing PEC infrastructure. I know I have the desired acumen to help our board make decisions that are in the best interest of our members.

2) What education, skills strength, or life experiences do you have that would benefit PEC?

I have been on multiple executive boards where I’ve learned how to read and interpret policies and by-laws on various subjects. I am a very inquisitive person who likes to dive deep into a variety of subjects until I gain a comprehensive understanding. The energy sector is a subject that I feel very strongly about and have looked at alternative means of energy production around the nation. Not to mention I belong to an organization whose sole focus is to look for low-cost green alternatives that produce stable jobs around the US. Intra-personal communication is the key to any organization or governing body and is what I do best.

3) What other boards or committees have you served on or leadership positions have you held in the past?

I was the Vice-President of the Hays CISD DAC which ensures all students and employees have equal access to better educational and employment opportunities. I am also the current Vice-President of the Texas Environmental Caucus where I help promote policies that protect natural resources, boost opportunities for green initiatives, and uphold the importance of energy source variety for our state. I have also served on a variety of other committees as an executive officer.

4) Are you familiar with the elements of the cooperative business model?

I am very familiar with the elements of the cooperative business model and its numerous advantages, chief among them being the opportunity to have a say in the direction the cooperative should aim for as a member. I’m just another member that wants to see PEC thrive and provide the best possible outcome for members now and in the future. I aim to follow Lyndon B. Johnson’s legacy and improve on it in my small way by becoming a District 7 Director.

5) How would you approach working with your fellow PEC Board of Directors to achieve collaboration and consensus?

I will continue the same processes I have across my career, listening to others first. Understanding the intent of someone’s message or cause is necessary to form a thoughtful response that will add to our mutual understanding regardless of whether we are on the same side of an issue or on opposite sides of it. Consensus building is my mantra.
